Ram and Sita

The news is everywhere!

The culprit: Educated young girls

The holder of justice: Goons and barbarians

The crime: Drinking alcohol

In a country where devotees of Shri Ram must worship Sita in her various forms, goons such as these thrashed girls in a pub in Mangalore, in broad daylight. The public and the media lapped it all up, for their share of flashing ‘BREAKING NEWS’ on every TV in the nation. We watch, as helplessly, and as much in horror, as we did the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai.

And what is the difference between the attacks? Nothing. Both are a complete breakdown of individual morals and humanity, and a real shame to the countries involved.

Knee-jerk reactions of arresting 10 men and leaving the rest to a ‘everything is under control’ public statement are a complete eye-wash. The men who attacked (and the parents of these men – for the kind of culture/values they have given them!), must be guillotined.

Didn’t someone say ‘India is a mosaic of cultures’?

This mosaic is so cracked and tainted, that there is no redemption in sight.

  1. Oh I didnt know about this at all until I read ur post.
Then looked it up on the site and what angered me more was this piece of news-http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Mangalore/After_Mumbai_Kolkatas_night_of_shame/articleshow/2674417.cms.
Its old news, about drunken behavior by boys in Kolkatta…but what apalled me is-where were the moral police when such things were happening.
So it wrong for women to be seen in a pub while its perfectly alright for men(barely in late teens sometimes) to blow their parents money, drink and make merry and whats worse-abuse and molest other women?
    What a lot of hypocrites!!

  2. I know.. it’s sickening really…

It’s just goondaism at its worst and they, unfortunately attach religion to it as an excuse…
we are moving towards zero-tolerance and Mangalore has always been one of the safer cities here in Karnataka till date…

  3. jai ho iz takiin rahmaan n da magik of indian muzzekal effektz da world overrr n luk wot v hv jusss giiven da young miindz….one more element of fear and “can’t do anythin” kind o feel….why dozn’t some social worker of repute take up da cause of thizz issue az in tellin politicians to do their own job and stop “cultural policin” instead of bein a culture police they r appeariin to b vultures….my respect nd love goes out to that dude who fought with the goons man…..pawan shetty listn anybody readiin diiz blog i need to get in touch wid pawan shetty for a phone intw on radio mirchi mumbai any body who cud help go on lets spread his magic acrozz india the youth needs idols like pawan shetty who fought wid the goons single handedly …..respect to him man…..jeeturaaj radio mirchi 98.3 fm mumbai

  4. Yash – Read through your post on this and couldn’t agree more!! Still enraged.

Pix- You hit the nail on the head – this is just another excuse to goonda-raj. Raj and his species are no better than Ravana!

Shail- It is indeed a sad and hopeless state of affairs!

Jeeturaaj- I will google this hero soon and post any updates in case I find them. But you know what? I found it extremely difficult to read your spellings 😉

Ritu- ‘Second class citizens’ – Why! That is so true. Infact the only First Class Citizens in India these days are the uneducated goons and thugs! The rest of the country lives in fear.

  5. I wonder, Pallavi what is next? Will these up-keepers of culture break into homes and thrash women there? For watching the “wrong TV” or reading the “wrong books” or daring to think?
Why was this kind of a situation allowed. These things do not happen in a civilized place. I guess no one in India is safe. Women, anyhow do not matter there.

  6. Ally,
Even I wonder, in fear, as to what is next. Those responsible are either roaming scot free or are issuing public statements that ‘this is not such a big issue, to warrant national attention’. Where have our values gone?

    Shweta,
This is a stain indeed, and I believe even if it fades away slowly, another blot will appear soon enough! Such is our Indian fabric…the much-famed country of tolerance and culture.

    God help us all!

  7. I’m a whole day late jumping on this, but while this is a crying shame and all, did no one see it coming? The Hindu right-wingers have been growing bolder for a while now, what with an increase in tacit public support for their radical opinions on tackling terrorism and maintaining our country’s ‘culture’.

I’d be curious to know how many people ( I mean ‘people’ people, the silent majority that never shouts itself hoarse over blogs or news channels or reality tv) don’t think this is all that big a deal.

  8. I am a Hindu myself, and I cannot believe that radical elements such as these can be so dangerous to the whole country! Its a shame, really. And its frightening too. Where is India heading to?

  9. So many angry voices!!
And yet, women in India remain a pressured lot. It’s not about religion I think. It is about control. Think about it.
How can a woman in jeans who smokes or drinks or wanders hand in hand with a man offend any man? ? Because it occurs to him that if she has the strength to challenge society’s prescribed behaviour for women with respect to drinks, fags and clothes, then tomorrow she will find the strength to stand up for herself and her sisters when her dignity is violated?
Religion only seems to be the means to an end.

  10. I agree that whatver Ram sene did was wrong. But don’t you people think that media has some resonsibility here.
Because Ram sene had informed the media well before in hand that they are going to attack the pub.If media had some responsibiliy about
protecting our society then they should have informed Police about this attack.Instead they took a live coverage of this and published to whole world
and finally media only called this as “National shame” “Mangalore:The south Taliban”.The police officer(Sri Kumar) just asked a counter question for the people and to media
“why they(i.e. media) did not inform police about this attack” who were blaming government and police. So don’t you people think media has some moral responsibility here?
The same media which has given hype for this incident did not alk about the call center gals murder in bangalore,a hadnicaped gal who was harrassed by group of people, nor
a dalit woman who was harrassed by takur community in UP,not the 4.5 lak Kashmiri pandits who are living in a camp. Are these not shame for nation?

Pal:Raj and his species are better than ravana.Whatever protest he did against Bihari is right there is nothign wrong in it.If you look back from 1957 to 2009 ther are 8 MPS who became
the Railiway ministers in Indian Government. And because of this if you look go to any corner from Kanyakumari to Kashmir you will find only people from Bihar
Railways. This fact is known to most of the people but no one is protesting against it.So what wrong do you find in Raj protesting against this?Should he
have done protest by sittig silently under sivaji statue?? If you think that he has done all these for his polotical carrier then you need think about mahatma gandhi also!!
When Budhadb says Bengal is bengali’s,MK can say Chennai for Tamils(He never speaks any language other tamil) what is wrong in Raj fighting for Maharastra peoples interest against this Railway system. And people will be happy when Lalu calls him

    1. Anonymous,
Thanks for the additional info about the media being informed about the planned attacks.
1- Definitely, media is largely to blame for ‘sensationalizing’ a lot of news. They did the same during the Ayushi case.
2- However, does the prior warning really justify the attack?! Is this not a barbaric and shameful act in any case? Gundas like these who claim to be real men defending our Indian culture, should really be at the warfront defending the nation, not hanging around a pub, no?!
3- I would rather not comment on Raj and his sena in this post.
Thanks for your comments on my blog, but I would really appreciate a non-anonymous comment.
      Cheers..

  11. 1.Yeah I agree that they did in Ayushi case it means those have money or born rich then only they will become center of attraction for media and people.
What about other cases of poor people??

2.Yes,if there was prior warning then this wouldn’t have become a barbaric attack nor they would have become gundas. But again do you think whatever was happening
in that pub was right??Will Renuka Choudhary allow any of her family member to go to pub and do that?I thnik NWC gave comment on that(i.e. on pub in Mangalore).

I agree that these people(so called gundas)should have been in warfront but if they are not there then you would see our nation becoming a Muslim or Chiristian Country down the line.
Because of these people bad name came to some other organisation who are really working for our culture. But if a there is question about these gundas should be warfront then there should be a counter question asked about the minority people presence in warfront, who are
spoiling our nation from inside and also they give support for outsiders to do the same but the so called gundas don’t do same thing.

3.If the people who attacked the pub are called gundas then what are these gals called who were in pub???

4.I just commented on Raj because I saw in one of the comments some thing about Raj and his species. So felt like saying something about him.Because
When there is Species like MK,Mufthi,Budhhadev, etc then there should be RAJ or BAL.

As I already mentioned whatever attack happened on girls is wrong I mean the way in which it was carried out.If they(Ram sene)haven’t informed media then
it would not have become major issue.I feel social responsibiltiy not only depends on police or government it depends on people and also on media who blames the system.
In this case there is mistake from each and eveyone. So I feel only the Ram sene cannot be blamed here.If this act is shamefull to the nation then the activities which were going on
in pub is also shamefull to nation.

There was a famous photo journalist Kevin Carter who committed suicide just for fogetting his moral responsibilty, just for one photograph for which he had won many awards all over the world.
I feel there is a moral responsibilty of each individual in this society.

Thanks for good blogs : )

  12. Pubs & The Hindu Culture……

Well now we have the entry and the discussion of cultures….what’s in the pub culture that’s not hindu….Great….we now have Chief Ministers and Politicians becoming Moral Policemen and deciding whats right and whats not for you and me as deemed by Hindu culture….

The first thing they need to know is that elections and even democracy is not our culture…it is a part of our Nation Building Exercise and derived from our constitution….if they quote culture then they cannot Remain…what say?

Similarly….having gone through all those colture related ancient texts…I do non see ram wearing pants…neither is sita there with a salwar so to say?

Then even schools and colleges cannot be our culture since the texts were limited only to certain caste based donkeys…what say?…and what of the temples…wtc…can we enter?

And the net and computers should be banned…why?…not part of our culture foolish…so too all the trains, cars, buses, planes..what say?

And what of the army…navy and the air force…well they should wear dhoties…so simple…No Doctors and those allopathic medicines…no burgers..no rotis…no so much and so much stuff that we are doing has to stop..

The tv..movies…stage and shows…no..no…absolutely not…what about the President and the Prime Minister…no…no….not part of the hindu culture…and women at work…absolutely no…no….in the house…do away with them…

And what about the watches…cameras…handy cams….and the ipod…and the mp3/mp4….and what about the newspapers…and the unending list….
In fact we need to try and fly the bullock cart….our culture …what say? And moon going…never…not culture…

And no lifts in the buildings…why…not our culture….whew..this is really getting good….just imagine the new cultural hindu India…..yahoo….welcome to the Hindu Culture World….where there are no boundaries….not the Hindu Culture…only the boundaries of gender, caste, creed, and all the other things…..

  13. Latest on this issue – the top brass of this group actually quoted that fashion shows are against our culture! Aishwariya Rai is a Magalorean herself and a beauty queen who participated in countless fashion shows! go figure!

  14. Hi,
What happened in Mangalore is indeed a shame on India. Liked reading your views on it.
“We have just enough religion to make us hate, but not enough to make us love one another.” – Jonathan Swift
First time here. Hope to come back for more.
    Cheers,
    Salil

  15. Shweta – This is getting more ridiculous, isn’t it? Where is India heading to? We are becoming a bunch of fanatics and morons ourselves!!

Salil – Welcome, that quote was totally apt! I had a great time reading your blog too! Time to blogroll you, with your permission, of course!

  16. hi pal,

I Just read this article about media pasting it here.
Who owns the media in India?
NDTV: A very popular TV news media is funded by Gospels of Charity in Spain Supports Communism. Recently it has developed a soft corner towards Pakistan because Pakistan President has allowed only this channel to be aired in Pakistan . Indian CEO Prannoy Roy (a Christian) is co-brother of Prakash Karat, General Secretary of the Communist party of India .His wife and Brinda Karat are sisters.

India Today which used to be the only national weekly which supported BJP is now bought by NDTV!! Since then the tone has changed drastically and turned into Hindu bashing.
CNN-IBN: This is 100 percent funded by Southern Baptist Church with its branches in all over the world with HQ in US. The Church annually allocates $800 million for promotion of its channel. Its Indian head is Rajdeep Sardesai and his wife Sagarika Ghosh.
    Times group list:
Times Of India, Mid-Day, Nav-Bharth Times, Stardust, Femina, Vijay Times, Vijaya Karnataka, Times now (24- hour news channel) and many more.. Times Group is owned by Bennet & Coleman. `World Christian Council? does 80 percent of the Funding, and an Englishman and an Italian equally share balance 20 percent. The Italian Robertio Mindo is a close relative of Sonia Gandhi.
Star TV: It is run by an Australian, who is supported by St. Peters Pontifical Church Melbourne.
Hindustan Times: Owned by Birla Group, but hands have changed since Shobana Bhartiya took over. Presently it is working in Collaboration with Times Group.

The Hindu: English daily, started over 125 years has been recently taken over by Joshua Society, Berne , Switzerland . N. Ram`s wife is a Swiss national.
Indian Express: Divided into two groups. The Indian Express and new Indian Express (southern edition) ACTS Christian Ministries have major stake in the Indian Express and latter is still with the Indian counterpart.

Eeenadu: Still to date controlled by an Indian named Ramoji Rao. Ramoji Rao is connected with film industry and owns a huge studio in Andhra Pradesh.

Andhra Jyothi: The Muslim party of Hyderabad known as MIM along with a Congress Minister has purchased this Telugu daily very recently.

The Statesman: It is controlled by Communist Party of India.

Kairali TV: It is controlled by Communist party of India (Marxist)

Mathrubhoomi: Leaders of Muslim League and Communist leaders have major investment.

Asian Age and Deccan Chronicle: Is owned by a Saudi Arabian Company with its chief Editor M.J. Akbar.

    > > Gujarat riots which took place in 2002 where Hindus were burnt alive,

Rajdeep Sardesai and Bharkha Dutt working for NDTV at that time got around 5 Million Dollars from Saudi Arabia to cover only Muslim victims, which they did very faithfully. Not a single Hindu family was interviewed or shown on TV whose near and dear ones had been burnt alive, it is reported.

Tarun Tejpal of Tehelka.com regularly gets blank cheques from Arab countries to target BJP and Hindus only, it is said.

The ownership explains the control of media in India by foreigners..
    The result is obvious.

PONDER OVER THIS. NOW YOU KNOW WHY EVERY ONE IS AGAINST TRUTH, HOW VERY SAD
